Sensitivity

Sensitivity is always the key to catching fish. It is important to be able to feel your bait and feel a strike. Gaining more sensitivity can be as simple as changing your grip of the rod. Move your grip to a position that allows you to have direct line contact. With a baitcaster, this can be accomplished by palming the reel or holding the rod just above the reel and touching your index finger to the line. Another advantage of this grip is that it helps balance the rod weight in your hand and reduces fatigue. With spinning or bait casting tackle, relaxing your grip allows the rod to transmit vibrations from the bait or fish. This will greatly increase the sensitivity. But be sure you have a secure enough grip so that you don't lose the rod and reel to the fish.
