Idaho Fishing

Cold clear water creates ideal environments for trout, salmon and smallmouth bass. Idaho has lots of it. There are thousands of lakes and ponds and we cannot cover them all, but here are some of the major Idaho fishing impoundments.

American Falls Reservoir : 56,000-acre lake in the south-east part of the state, at American Falls, ID.

Anderson Ranch Reservoir : 4,700-acre lake in the south-west part of the state, 15 miles north-east of Mountain Home, ID.

Arrowrock Reservoir : 3,000-acre lake in the south-west part of the state, 12 miles east of Boise, ID.

Bear Lake : 70,000-acre lake in the south-east corner of the state, at Fish Haven, ID.

Blackfoot Reservoir : 18,000-acre lake in the south-east part of the state, near the Wyoming-Idaho border 5 miles south-west of Wayan, ID.

Brownlee Reservoir : 15,000-acre lake in the west-central part of the state, on the Oregon-Idaho border, 18 miles west of Cambridge, ID.

C J Strike Reservoir : 7,500-acre lake in the south-west part of the state, 2 miles north of Bruneau, ID.

Cascade Reservoir : 28,000-acre lake in the west-central part of the state, at Cascade, ID.

Coeur D'Alene Lake : 31,500-acre lake in the north-west part of the state, at Coeur D'Alene, ID.

Deadwood Reservoir : 3,000-acre lake in the central part of the state, 12 miles north of Lowman, ID.

Dworshak Reservoir : 16,000-acre lake in the north-west part of the state, 1 mile north of Ahsahka, ID.

Hayden Lake : 4,500-acre lake in the north-west part of the state, at Hayden Lake, ID.

Hells Canyon Reservoir : 2,500-acre lake in the central-western part of the state, on the Idaho-Oregon border north of Oxbow, ID.

Henry's Lake : 6,500-acre lake in the north-east corner of the lower part of the state, 5 miles north of Macks Inn, ID.

Island Park Reservoir : 7,000-acre lake in the north-east corner of the lower part of the state, at Island Park, ID.

Lake Lowell : 10,000-acre lake in the south-west part of the state, immediately south-west of Nampa and Caldwell, ID.

Lake Pend Oreille : 86,000-acre lake in the upper northern section of the state, at Sandpoint, ID.

Lake Walcott : 11,800-acre lake in the south-central part of the state, 4 miles south of Minidoka, ID.

Lucky Peak Reservoir : 2,800-acre lake in the south-west part of the state, 8 miles east of Boise, ID.

Magic Reservoir : 3,700-acre lake in the south-west part of the state, 10 miles south-west of Bellevue, ID.

Mormon Reservoir : 2,400-acre lake in the south-west part of the state, 3 miles south of Fairfield, ID.

Mud Lake : 7,000-acre lake in the lower-central part of the state, at Mud Lake, ID.

Palisades Reservoir : 16,000-acre lake in the south-east part of the state, on the Wyoming-Idaho border 5 miles south-east of Irwin, ID.

Payette Lake : 5,300-acre lake in the west-central part of the state, at McCall, ID.

Priest Lake : 23,000-acre lake in the upper northern section of Idaho 1 mile east of Nordman, ID.

Redfish Lake : 1,500-acre lake in the lower-central part of the state, 5 miles south of Stanley, ID.

Ririe Reservoir : 1,600-acre lake in the south-east part of the state, 12 miles east of Idaho Falls, ID.

Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir : 3,400-acre lake in the southern part of the state, 5 miles south-west of Rogerson, ID.

Spirit Lake : 1,400-acre lake in the north-west part of the state, at Spirit Lake, ID.
