With these pikes you can pull yourself up a lot easier and they are a cheap life insurance. Other ice fishing equipment that could be useful is a small ice fishing rod. It is small because it gives you shorter time to react when you feel the bite and you have more control over the lure. The lure should be a small shiny lure often baited with some live worm or similar.
