Pike Tips

In lakes you will want to target the weed lines and the weedy bays of the lake. They will also hold
near rocks and fallen logs.

In rivers, target rip rap and any place there is a current break or slack water. Mouths of feeder
streams and entrances to bayous are fabulous areas to target pike.

In smaller streams, target the deeper pools as they will hold pike all through the summer months.

A common live bait to use is shiners, but big suckers and chubs suspended under a round bobber
will often attract the bigger pike.

Troll at a higher speed than normal right outside of weed lines. You want to make the lure dance
erratically.

Always go with a steel leader. Big pike can bite through 30 pound mono. As aggressive as pike are,
a steel leader is not going to hurt your strike ratio.
